Mapping Out New Directions

A person or partnership can experience years of uninterrupted success and still reach a point where a new direction needs to be taken. In some cases, the type of change is obvious or a natural extension of the previous direction or way of being. In other cases, things may be less clear as to the appropriate path forward. In those instances, a thorough evaluation of one’s personal needs and situation, involving a careful and systematic deconstruction and reconstruction process, may be necessary.

We have observed that people who are smart, hard working, and disciplined can make almost any situation work and, sometimes through sheer will and familiarity, may experience success and prosperity. One can experience success and yet not be thriving. This is true for individuals and relationships. However, as is sometimes said, the thing that got you here may not get you there. The question becomes: when is it appropriate to continue along a familiar path and when should one consider a change?

Personality Insight-Based Coaching

One approach to addressing this issue is to use the Personality Insight Program principles and tools. This program provides the framework for an organized approach to evaluating the direction that a person, partnership, or relationship should take by basing it on a comprehensive understanding of personality preferences and values. From there, a personal, career, and/or partnership map is developed from which to chart a course forward. The objective is to invest in and follow a path that is congruent with one’s true nature and circumstances. Our clients have found this process clarifying and extremely valuable.

Individuals and partners can benefit from this process. For individuals, it is about finding a sustainable approach to meeting one’s fundamental needs, based on life-purpose. For partnerships, these principles are used to develop a “shared” vision for the future, based on the partners’ personalities, preferences and values. It is about having the partnership serve its partners’ needs by creating a clear understanding of its purpose and being able to calibrate as circumstances change.
